Holly leaves, small bells and gift boxes repeat across nearly the whole surface of this mandala, arranged in tight concentric rings. At the centre, eight pointed leaves overlap into a rosette enclosed by a fine circle, immediately ringed by a band of short triangular spikes. Two wider bands then alternate berried holly clusters, curled ribbons and bells, before a chevron frieze closes the pattern just inside the double line bordering the outer circle, clean and unbeaded.

The linework stays fine and dense through the holly rings and the outer chevron band, while the central star, drawn in bolder strokes, gives the eye a resting point.
