Everything still begins at a tiny eight-pointed star tucked inside a scalloped medallion. A ring of small heart-shaped petals closes in around it, followed by a wider one whose tips curl into scrolls, forming a full-blown flower. A band of tangled spirals and round dots leads into the outer ring, made of large paisley scrolls that coil back on themselves and give the border its lobed, uneven silhouette.

The line stays thin and even throughout, but the spaces grow from center to edge — tiny around the star, generous in the outer scrolls.
