A woven band of Celtic knotwork closes the outer edge, its ribbons crossing over and under all the way round and giving the rim a slightly rounded outline rather than a clean circle. Just inside, a ring of about a dozen bullseye medallions in concentric circles keeps a steady rhythm. Closer in, six small spirals coil like scrolls around a six-petal flower folded around a tiny six-pointed star at the very centre.

The line stays thin and even throughout, but the spaces shrink noticeably in the spirals and the outer knotwork, where the compartments are small and close together. The petals and medallions are wide enough for a first printable mandala, while the knotted border rewards a steadier hand and a fine-tipped pen, adding up to one to two hours of coloring.

Start with the central star and flower before working outward ring by ring; a fine pencil or a 0.3 mm marker slips into the tight loops of the knotwork far better than a broad tip. Print this mandala coloring page on A4 paper at 200 gsm or heavier so fine lines hold up under ink, or scale up to A3 for more room in the border.
