Plum blossom, rays, folding fans and a Japanese meander in concentric rings

This Japanese-style mandala opens at its center with a five-lobed blossom, like a plum flower, crossed by a burst of star-shaped lines. A ring of fine straight rays reaches a first circle, followed by a band of scalloped arcs dotted with beads. A third ring mixes small cloud-shaped swirls, clusters of pointed leaves, and four folding fans set at the cardinal points, all enclosed within a wide meander band of interlocking spirals before a bold black line closes the outer circle.

The line stays fine from the center out to the meander band, where the small square cells tighten; the widest open spaces sit in the central petals and between the rays. This mandala coloring page asks for a steady hand on the outer rings, though a beginner can finish the central blossom in a few minutes. Plan on two to three hours for the whole piece.

Start with the blossom and rays before tackling the meander band, the most delicate part, where a fine liner or a sharpened pencil keeps lines clean; alcohol markers tend to bleed on such tight lines. This printable mandala works well on A4 or A3 paper of at least 200 gsm, heavy enough for several coats of color.
