Japanese Mandala #18 - Free Coloring Page

At the center of this mandala, a five-petal cherry blossom opens around a round core marked with small dots. A ring of koi carp swims around it, some shown side-on, others crossing diagonally, then a band of curling waves and a ring of radiating fan segments alternating with tufts of grass. The next ring repeats Mount Fuji, clouds and cranes in flight, before a band of tight triangular zigzags framed by two clean circles.

The line stays fine throughout, but the size of the spaces varies: the petals and the koi bodies leave fairly open areas, while the zigzag band and the fan rays break into many small triangles. This mandala coloring page rewards patience on the outer rings and suits someone already used to detailed line art; expect several hours split across more than one sitting.

Start with the central flower and the koi, where colored pencils cover the open areas well, then switch to a fine-tip marker for the zigzags and fan rays, the finest parts of the drawing. This printable mandala keeps its detail on thick A4 paper, around 200 gsm, which limits ink bleed-through.
