At the center of this mandala, a five-petaled cherry blossom opens around fine pointed stamens, ringed first by a tight band of small spirals and then by a wider band of looser wave-like scrolls. Eight radiating wedges spread outward from there, each holding a different scene: a pagoda, cranes in flight, a sun wrapped in clouds, blossoming branches, a scale-like lattice, and short curling waves. A ring of eight small sun disks borders this wheel, held inside a thick outer band from which eight torii gates stand out like battlements.

The line stays thin throughout, but the real challenge sits in the central spirals and the scale lattice that fills half the wedges — those tiny cells call for a fine-tipped marker and a steady hand.
