Japanese Mandala #5 - Free Coloring Page

A four-lobed blossom, its rounded petals lightly notched, opens around a burst of fine radiating dots at the center of this mandala. A thin circle separates it from a first ring of scalloped waves, then a band of small round flowers and clusters of three dots. A second, wider wave ring leads to larger blossoms beside curling clouds, and the widest band alternates flying cranes, clouds and pleated fans, before a ring of sharp triangles and a fine double circle close the outer edge.

The line stays thin throughout, but the scale of the shapes shifts sharply: broad petals and wave scales near the center give way to tiny cranes, fans and flowers toward the rim. This mandala coloring page suits a confident teen or adult rather than a beginner, and reaching the outer band takes several sittings.

Fine-tipped markers or gel pens suit the cranes and fans best, the most delicate part of the pattern, while colored pencils cover the wider waves and petals with less risk of overrunning the lines. Printed as a printable mandala at A3 on paper of 200gsm or heavier, the outer ring keeps its detail without ink bleeding through.
