At the center, a gnarled trunk splits into two trunks that carry a wide crown of branches curling into tight spirals, covered with dozens of small leaves and a few round fruits. Below, the roots weave together in a compact Celtic braid. The tree sits inside a plain circle, surrounded by two concentric bands of continuous interlacing knotwork, dotted with small round medallions and leaf clusters at regular points. The outer edge is formed by two thin, clean circles, with no beading and no scalloped cut.

The linework is fine and dense, especially in the crown's foliage and in the interlaced ribbons of the two outer bands, which multiply the small areas to fill.
