Indian Mandala #9 - Free Coloring Page

At the center of this Indian mandala, a round flower with rounded petals surrounds a tiny core ringed with fine beads. Seven rings surround it: a circle of dots, a band of pointed petals scrolled with fine filigree, a second circle of dots, then a double row of wider rounded petals. A dense botanical band of lotus buds, leaves, and curling scrolls comes next, followed by an outer ring of rectangular panels alternating feather-like motifs with flower clusters, closed off by a scalloped edge.

This mandala coloring page spreads its difficulty from center to edge: the large petals and the botanical band give roomy spaces to fill, while the dotted rings and the panels along the border call for a steady hand and a fine line. All those narrow spaces make it better suited to an experienced colorist than a young child. Expect two to four hours to cover the whole disc.

Start with the central flower and the large petals before tackling the dotted rings, where a fine-tip marker keeps lines crisp; the border panels, the most delicate part of the design, respond well to sharpened colored pencils.
