At the center of this mandala, a tiny white circle opens into a star of thin, pointed petals. A ring of rounded petals, each tipped with a dot and joined by a fine stem, surrounds it. Next comes a band of overlapping scalloped scales, then eight square medallions with dotted, lace-like patterns, alternating with pointed leaves with scalloped edges. The design closes with a wide crown of large tapering points, whose outer edge is jagged rather than a clean circle, like an open flower.
The linework is thin and even, though density shifts sharply from one band to the next: the dotted medallions near the middle hold many tiny compartments, while the large outer points offer broad, easy-to-fill areas.
