Central vajra, eight-petal lotus, seated Buddhas and standing figures in rings.
At the centre of this Tibetan mandala, a round medallion holds a four-pronged double vajra. Eight pointed lotus petals surround it in a star shape. Several concentric rings follow: upright flame shapes, cloud scrolls hiding small animal figures, a row of seated Buddhas separated by trees, then standing figures alternating with clouds. A scrollwork frieze and two thin circles close the piece, six rings in all.
The linework is very fine and even, especially in the outer frieze and the figures' faces, which makes this mandala coloring page better suited to a hand used to small spaces. The central petals and clouds offer more generous areas, while the rings of figures call for fine markers or sharpened pencils. Expect several hours to work from the centre to the edge without losing precision.
A printable mandala this dense works best with colored pencils, easier to control than markers on the standing figures and seated Buddhas, the finest parts of the drawing. Start with the central medallion and the lotus before the outer rings. Print it on A3 paper of at least 160 gsm, which holds up better to repeated coloring over the smallest details.
